Steelwool (Africa) Limited was established in 1969. It is the pioneering manufacturer of steel wool in East and Central Africa. Our flagship brand of steel wool, ‘SOKONI’ is a well-known and trusted brand in the entire region. Over the years we have grown and diversified into manufacture and supply of many homecare and floor care products under the ‘Kleenit’, ‘Steelex’, ‘Steelo’ and ‘Kleenit Brushware’ brands.

Since the commissioning of our first plant in 1969, we have strived to strengthen the quality of our brands through continuous improvement and expansion in our production processes. Through this, we have been able to increase the range of products carried under our various brands and thus ensure diversity for various consumer and industrial markets. As an upshot of the variety and quality of our products, we are able to undertake contract manufacturing and private label manufacturing for local and multinational clients.

As a market leader in homecare solutions, we have pioneered the packaging of steel wool into sachet rolls and later introduced those rolls in a new attractive packaging where each sachet is individually wrapped. We persistently strive to tread new territories by embracing innovation and creativity that ensures our products remain house hold names and our customers are able to reap the dividends from their investment in us through-out the years.

We have branched out into the manufacture of welding electrodes under the brand names ‘WELDPLUS’ and ‘WELTECH’. These are mild steel electrodes that are used by fabricators, vehicle body builders, engineering workshops and civil contractors. We are also the local distributors of ‘ASKAYNAK’ and ‘KOBATEK’ brand of specialized welding electrodes, mig welding wires and welding consumables from a Turkey. These brands offer mig welding wire and a wide range of electrodes for various applications- hard-facing, stainless steel, cast iron, low hydrogen and premium rutile. We have endeavoured to provide many solutions for all your welding requirements.

Our products are vastly distributed across Kenya and available in all the major supermarkets, local markets and hardware suppliers. We also export to various African countries through a wide network of agents and distributors.
